This is Haggis Hill.
Todays walk saw 36 ramblers arrive in the pretty South Ayrshire village of Barr for a circular 7 mile walk. Todays number we believe was a record turnout for this group it must have been the walk leaders charm and charisma that attracted this number. We left the village and had a gentle climb up towards Changue Forest. From there we went through the forest and made our way down to a bridge over the river. From there it was a gentle climb to reach Kirsties Cairn which was our lunch stop.  The walk leader explained that Kirstie as he was known was a shepherd who back in 1920 had perished in the snow and the cairn was a memorial erected by his friends. We then went back through the forest and down a slippy path to get back to the car park. Another excellent walk in good company in the winter sunshine.

Monte Carlo Rally. Glasgow January 27 2011

Today courtesy of a bus pass I went to Glasgow to see the cars lined up for this years Monte Carlo Rally in George Square. It is 38 years since Glasgow was a starting point for the rally so this year was a bit special with teams from Japan and Canada competing. The Canadians are an all female team but they have the benefit of "Sat Nav" so I am sure they will finish. 49 cars will leave this evening at 2 minute intervals and the next stop is MONTE CARLO.Best of luck to everyone involved.
