South Ayrshire ramblers. Largs circular to Knock Hill 05 February 2011

Meeting at Largs.

Early snowdrops.

Colourful bee hives.
Some noisy geese.
Lots of kissing gates today.
Wind has twisted this tree.

Normally this stream is a trickle.

We are being watched.

Knock castle.
16 walkers met at Largs shore car park for  a "C" walk up Knock Hill. Our walk leader today was worried about the underfoot conditions after 2 days of torrenrial rain and wind. We started out up the Brisbane Glen Road before heading onto a track towards open moorland.A short climb took us to the top and we were rewarded with wonderful views of Bute and the Cowal Peninsula with ferries going to and fro. An early lunch was taken before we descended down to a road that ran past Routenburn Golf Club and Knock castle which once was home to a well known Ayrshire professional footballer. From here it was a short walk through a park and onto the Largs shore back to the car park.
Considering the weather forecast and the previous 2 days we were very lucky to get a dry walk with wet underfoot conditions . A pleasant winters day out with the usual good banter from all walkers.
