Advance party on wee Hill of Glenmount.

"Alone on a hill" that was the title of a song I think!!

Different ways of crossing a fence were demonstrated.

Remains of little shalloch.

Todays leader.
Today Tuesday May 8th I joined Cunninghame Ramblers on their 8 mile circular walk from Dalcairney Farm to Big Hill of Glenmount.First of all thanks to the local farmer who had granted the leader permission to park our cars at the farm, very much appreciated sir, if by chance you read this blog, thanks..Part of this route I had already done with Ayr and District Ramblers in February 2011 which I also covered with a blog.Today 16 of us went passed the Dalcairney Falls on a partly cloudy dry morning which was a pleasant change after yesterdays cold miserable wind to make our way up to Big Hill of Glenmount which gave us some wonderful views over towards last weeks epic walk on the Rhinns of Kells. Lunch was taken on the lower slopes before we made our way past the ruins of Little Shalloch which must have been quite a sunstantial property perhaps about a hundred years ago. A good path was found as we made our way down off the hills and back to the cars to end  another excellent day out with this group with their usual good banter and wisecracks sometimes even directed at me but as you all know I can take it.(honest my hair will grow again!!) Thanks to our local leader her knowledge of the area fairly added to the enjoyment of the outing.
