Cairnsmore of Carsphairn from Water of Ken. October 2011

Glennoch bothy is extremely well kept.
Today Tuesday October 4 the Kilmarnock rocket and I decided to re visit a walk I did back in August with Wigtownshire Ramblers so more information can be found there ,this will be a short blog for that reason. On a fairly cool cloudy morning we made our way up the track past Moorbrock holiday cottages until we reached the base of Beninner(710M) where we went up the difficult route which involves a wee bit of scrambling and was very slippy today after all the rain we have had. Once safely on the summit we made our way across a ridge to the top of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn (797M) which was covered in mist. A good descent took us to Glennoch bothy where we had our lunch stop before heading up the track to take us past Moorbrock Hill and downwards back to the car.Super walk taken at a very fast pace as I tried to keep up with the rocket.10 miles was covered in less than 5 hours including all the difficult ascents.

    I've heard from a birdie that you've had a letter published in a national newspaper.
    Love the way you've gone from newly retired to being an authority on Scottish Mountains.
    Mind you,the way you're going I wouldn't put it past you to get up them all before packing it in.

    The little birdie I would guess is probably a retired school teacher. Yes when one retires one has to correct national newspapres when they don't get their facts right. Two years ago I would not have been able to correct them as for going up them all I don't think so.
