Carrick Hills new circular. March 2012

Just another short blog today as the planned walk at Muirshiel Park near Lochwinnoch did not materialise as the leader had injured himself earlier in the week. An alternative walk was arranged to Lanark but myself and two others decided as it was a "C" walk we would go off up the Carrick Hills again to do a stronger one without having to drive too far to the start. It was a cloudy morning but blue sky was seen in the distance so off we went along the shore and up the hills at the Bracken Bay where we decided to try a new route that took us along the top of the ridge back to Alloway via Newark Castle a walk I have often wanted to do but never really got around to it. Most enjoyable route made even better once the sun came out as we made our way back to the start along the old railway line that used to run to the holiday camp. An old and tested walk with a new twist today made this 9 mile circular walk a great day out.
